Germany
Number of people served: 3,025
Germany is the top refugee hosting nation in Europe, with 970,400 refugees in the country at the end of 2017. The majority of these refugees have come from Syria, but others have fled from Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Eritrea.
Germany has not always hosted this significant number of refugees. In recent years, the country has seen influx of refugees and asylum seekers crossing its boarders. While initially met with an outpouring of community support and funding, there has been some backlash throughout the country and negative rhetoric and actions taken towards refugees and asylum seekers in response.
